RAINBOW STEW CLOGGERS
ABOUT US: Rainbow Stew Cloggers
Rainbow Stew Cloggers have been dancing together since September 1995 under the guidance of Sharon Lafferty, ‘Certified Clogging Instructor’. Humble beginnings started as ‘show & tell’ to 3 friends at Nanoose Place and the club has grown to register an average of 70 members per year.
Our club’s name was derived from a Merle Haggard tune called Rainbow Stew. The original 3 dancers enjoyed the routine and named the club after graduating with the now coveted rainbow shoelaces. Thus, the RAINBOW STEW CLOGGERS.
Our instructional one hour clogging classes are held at Nanoose Place and the Qualicum Beach Community Hall on Vancouver Island, BC. They begin in September and culminate in May with levels from Beginners to Easy Intermediate, Intermediate and Advanced. After Graduation in May, there are fun dances at Nanoose Place on Thursday evenings all summer. This is where we review routines, gain confidence and hone our skills in preparation for the next year’s challenges.
Our satisfaction lies in dancing fun, great exercise and most of all friendship and camaraderie. It’s especially gratifying for us to ‘give back’ to our communities as we demonstrate our spirited dance activity at seniors’ lodges and entertain at street festivals and fairs in our area. 25 to 30 Rainbow Stew Cloggers enjoy putting our best feet forward with cued and costumed routines to very appreciative audiences.
Monthly parties are held at Nanoose Place with themes, costumes, and snacks. Everyone plays the game! Goofers (dancers that have completed the mini choreography course offered by Sharon) even challenge themselves to cue their easy routine on party nights.
Rainbow Stew Cloggers are members in good standing with the Canadian Square and Round Dance Society and the BC Square and Round Dance Federation and hold a yearly Certificate of Performing Right Licence for Musical Works in Repertoire of the Society of Composers, Authors and Music Publishers of Canada.
